Field Trip Drivers and/or Chaperones Mr. Quartarolo's 3rd grade class is in need of some volunteer drivers for a couple field trips. There are 27 kids in the class and they need drivers to safely transport the children to the following trips: May 8 at Lake Hills Greenbelt, an all-day trip; May 21 at Albertsons, a 90-minute tour of the store. They may also need two more parent volunteers to help with a June 3rd Harbor tour, an all-day, bus-transported trip. If you can help, please call Sherri Grillo, 206-660-4781. |

This year, Jill and Joanna are teaming up to serve as your Volunteer Coordinators. We are both excited at the upcoming year as we're convinced it will be a successful one. Thanks to strong parent commitment, almost all the leadership positions have been filled before this school year has even begun!
The school year is starting strong and many volunteers are needed to sign up throughout September!
One of the major events is the Book Fair. The event has been moved from very busy December to September. (Anyone for early Christmas shopping?) Last year, too few volunteers did too many hours. This year, even though the sale times have been limited, we are in need of many volunteers! This important fundraiser that not only raises money for the school, but also books for the library!
Another important volunteer position is Computer Lab Parent. As you might know, PTSA has worked with Principal Phil Robinson to employ a computer lab assistant for the year! PTSA voted for the funds, and the school is both hiring a lab assistant and scheduling for each class to have computer time!! Volunteers are needed to assist the classrooms during their lab time! If you sign up, you know what your student is learning, help facilitate successful lab time, and become an important resource to the school!
Along with Computer Lab Parents, Grant Writers and Researchers are another crucial volunteer position that has opened. Gregory Heights has never been able to apply to technology grants because we didn't have a computer lab fully in use. Through the generosity of past years' families, the PTSA funded the hiring of a Computer Lab Assistant. We would like to see this as a permanent position—and grants are a key to the continual success! If writing a grant seems a bit overwhelming, researching for grants is a simpler but equally essential part of the team.
We would like to thank all of you for your commitment to the young Huskies at Gregory Heights. With strong volunteer support, we are "championing our children's future!"
